music.

Music was my refuge.
I could crawl into the space between the notes
and curl my back to loneliness.

choc -o-holic

if you've met me or anyone in my family you know we are chocoholics.
full blown chocoholics, and ALL chocolate never goes to waste in our household.
i think this is due to the fact that my mom is addicted.
pretty sure she must have drank chocolate milk and {fed it to me in a bottle as a babe}, ate chocolate chip cookies, oh and that 10lb chocolate bar she always seems to have hidden in the house somewhere. YUM.
so whenever i come across a new chocolate {especially nutella} recipe i must TRY IT NOW!
however, the most recent discovery happens to come at the worst time ever.
100+ degrees ARIZONA and NUTELLA HOT CHOCOLATE do not, I REPEAT,
DO NOT MIX!
maybe in a few weeks, once monsoon season really picks up, then i might, just may be able to just get by, but for now, maybe someone, somewhere can enjoy this recipe, while i just stare at the photo and salivate.

heaven in a cup
NUTELLA HOT CHOCOLATE
1 serving
1 cup milk (I use skim)
2 1/2 Tbsp Nutella
1 Tbsp Cocoa
Tiny pinch of salt
In a small sauce pan over medium heat
whisk all ingredients together until well blended and hot.
Pour in a cup and top with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate.

HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM
1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
2 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Place a medium bowl and your beaters from your electric mixer in the freezer for 10 minutes (this helps the whipped cream stiffen faster)
Pour all ingredients into the chilled bowl and start to beat. Start off on low and gradually work your way up to high. It will be done when it is the consistency of ..well…whipped cream. Don’t over beat.

DISCLAIMER: i have never made this before, so i take no blame for it not being good.
but it has nutella and WHIPPED cream, how could it not be AMAZING!?

roses.

seemingly innocent enough, right?
last week i received these from boyfriend:
they were delivered at the end of the work day after sitting in a delivery truck all day.
they were wilted and the chocolate that came with it was melted.
boyfriend was sad because his wonderful gestured was ruined by the arizona heat.
so being who he is, called up said flower place and set them straight.
therefore, wednesday i received these:
aren't they magnificant?
well they were delivered with no card, so whenever patients asked who they were from i said:
"i don't know"
and some would say:
"oh you have a secret admirer"
or
"someone beat me to sending you flowers"
my patients are too funny.
one of my last patients of the day came in and said:
"who are those from?"
me: "i don't know, no card, but i'm sure they're from my boyfriend"
patient: "is it your birthday?"
me: "no."
patient: "anniversary?'
me: "no."
patient: "oh, did he yell at you?"
me: "no."
patient: "then he must have cheated".
me: dumbfounded mouth wide open
patient: "is he the type to send flowers to his secretary?"
me: "no."

HAHAHA.

my beautiful flowers have been tainted by said patient.
but i still love them.
and no, boyfriend doesn't even have a secretary.
and yes, boyfriend did send them.
moral of the story: old people are crazy

alzheimers sucks.

alzheimer's is not my friend.
back in march i lost my grandma to alzheimer's.
it's a nasty, nasty terrible thing to happen to anyone.
currently, i have a patient with beginner stages of alzheimers.
he is the ABSOLUTE sweetest old man ever.
him and his wife are amazing.
every time he's here he reminds me of my sweet, sweet grandma.
he has the most endearing charm about him, and cutest smile.
my grandma had the quirkiest sense of humor and best smile too :)
{"those damn poodles"}
makes me sad, but happy too.
here's to my incredible patient, Mr. M., and my beautiful grandma,
Bernice Weekley.
RIP grandma. i love you.
